For\u00a0nearly 30\u00a0years, we have shown up every night to ensure young people have a safe place to sleep, a warm meal, and support toward stability and independence.<\/p>\n<p>Often, ROOTS is the first place a young person turns when they lose housing. That first night matters. Being met with safety, dignity, and care can change the course of everything that comes next.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tFrom Uncertainty to Ownership\u00a0\t<\/h2>\n\t<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q5f1yXF4aoU?si=TlcE80MO0jFS81vA\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n\tAfter more than 20 years of\u00a0operating\u00a0out of our former location, ROOTS faced a crisis of our own. Our building was being sold, putting shelter for more than 450 young adults each year at risk.<br \/>\nOur community refused to let that happen.\n<p>ROOTS\u00a0purchased\u00a0a former fraternity house on Greek Row and transformed it into a functioning overnight shelter. In that space, thousands of young adults have found safety, rest, and connection while we worked toward long-term\u00a0stability.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, that stability became permanent. Our building was fully paid off.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tA\u00a0Long-Awaited\u00a0Turning Point\u00a0\t<\/h2>\n\tFor the first time in our history, ROOTS owns our home outright. This milestone marks a turning point after decades of showing up for young adults and years of commitment to securing a permanent space.<br \/>\nBecause ownership is secure, ROOTS can now invest deeply and confidently in the building that shelters young people every night.\n<p>Renovations are officially underway.<\/p>\n<h2>\n\t\t\tBuilding for Safety, Stability, and Dignity\u00a0\t<\/h2>\n\t<p>For the first time in our history, ROOTS owns our home outright. This milestone marks a turning point. With secured commitments in place, construction has begun on long needed life safety and infrastructure improvements. These include fire suppression systems, electrical upgrades, and essential structural work.<\/p>\n<p>This work is foundational. It ensures every young adult who walks through our doors is safe. It ensures staff can provide care in a sustainable environment. It ensures this building can serve young people for decades to come.<\/p>\n<p>This moment is not just about construction. It is about what becomes possible when a community chooses long-term\u00a0investment over temporary solutions.<\/p>\n<h3>\n\t\t\tWhat Comes Next\t<\/h3>\n\t<p>ROOTS is in the final phase of a\u00a0once-in-a-generation\u00a0transformation.<\/p>\n<p>With our building fully paid off and renovations underway, we are 85% funded and close to completing essential life safety and infrastructure upgrades.<\/p>\n<p>The remaining investment will finish the work already in motion and unlock expanded housing, services, and care for young adults who rely on ROOTS every night.<\/p>\n<p>This is not about\u00a0maintaining\u00a0the status quo.
